The College of Engineering/Musayyab was established in 2014 by ministerial order, its one of the University of Babylon's formations, following continuous efforts by scientific competencies and residents of the Al-Musayyib district, as well as the direct support of Mr President of University of Babylon, Dr Adel Hadi Al-Baghdadi, and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Al-Musayyib is the second largest district after Tal Afar because of its engineering and industrial potential.

The Dean of the College of Engineering in Al-Musayyib, Dr. Wissam Jalil Khudair, participated in the meeting held by the Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, with the President of the University of Babylon and members of the University of Babylon Council. The Minister stressed the importance of the quality and development of academic programs and educational paths to meet the needs of the labor market and keep pace with changes in the field of specialized knowledge. The University of Babylon presented its achievements in implementing programs, developing scientific research, and modernizing the educational environment, as well as its readiness to apply the Bologna Process in engineering and science disciplines in the next academic year.
