The College of Engineering/Musayyab was established in 2014 by ministerial order, its one of the University of Babylon's formations, following continuous efforts by scientific competencies and residents of the Al-Musayyib district, as well as the direct support of Mr President of University of Babylon, Dr Adel Hadi Al-Baghdadi, and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Al-Musayyib is the second largest district after Tal Afar because of its engineering and industrial potential.

The Dean of the College of Engineering in Musayyib, Dr. Wissam Jalil Khudair, participated in the third meeting of the deans of engineering colleges in Iraqi universities for the academic year 2023-2024. The meeting discussed several topics, including the preparation for implementing the Bologna process in engineering education starting from the next academic year 2024-2023, and the requirements for that according to the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The meeting also discussed the issue of accreditation, especially with the Ministry's direction to accelerate progress towards obtaining programmatic accreditation from the Iraqi Council for Accreditation of Engineering Programs. The meeting also included expressing opinions on various topics related to engineering education for undergraduate and graduate studies.
