The College of Engineering/Musayyab was established in 2014 by ministerial order, its one of the University of Babylon's formations, following continuous efforts by scientific competencies and residents of the Al-Musayyib district, as well as the direct support of Mr President of University of Babylon, Dr Adel Hadi Al-Baghdadi, and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Al-Musayyib is the second largest district after Tal Afar because of its engineering and industrial potential.

The College of Engineering in Al-Musayyib organized an educational seminar on the dangers of electronic extortion and ways to protect against it. The seminar was led by members of the National Security Agency in Babylon, and was attended by faculty, staff, and students of the college. The seminar covered the concept of electronic extortion and its impact on society, especially with the widespread use of mobile devices and social media. The speakers also discussed ways to protect internet users and social media sites, and how to raise awareness among families to avoid becoming victims of this criminal act.
